Newsflash

Today work began on the newly dubbed "Ratt Trail" which will serve as our connection trail to Trail 100 from our apartment.  It is hardly used, let along by mtn bikers with plenty of brush and rocks along the way.  More info on the trail coming soon!

Worst to first?! PDF Print E-mail

OK, So I didn't go from worst to first, but I made to 8th overall and 3rd in class!  I am now tied for first place in the points with one event remaining.  The best part is why did I start last and how did I pass 50+ riders! Heading into this 2nd event I was reading to build on my points lead and help Matt put in another strong event, it was his Birthday after all!  We registered late, but felt calm and prepared.  My plan was to have Matt start @ the front with me and I would push him through the first loop and then I would go for the win.  While getting ready @ the car, we hear "Beginner Men in 5,4,3,2,1!!!!"  So I looked @ Matt, grabbed my bike and shredded towards the start.  When I got to the trailhead all I could see is riders 2 wide stacked like rushhour traffic, there was no trail to be seen it was so busy.  I bombed onto the trail flat out and started yelling "fast and on your left!"  I was passing riders anywhere and everywhere I could.  Soon after I realized, I left so quickly...I didn't have a water bottle!  Then I treid to make a risky pass and went down, but nothing major other than the 3 spots I had to regain.  Fortunatly right after I bailed I saw a bottle off to the side, knowing I would have to complete another lap I planned to swipe it next time around.  Well luck was definetly on my side now, I grabbed the bottle on the next lap and proceeded to blast by more riders as I hit the long loop.  Each climb I was able to catch riders and then the blow by them on the downhills.  It was at the half way point that my race calmed down and I just rode pretty much by myself.  It was @ this point I began asking other riders what place they thought they were in, just trying to get any info on where I was.  About 1 mile left in the race I burned out, it was sher mental motivation to the finish.  Thankfully, it was all worth it as I got to step up on the podium and still have a shot @ the championship.
